The Oscars Cocktails, Mock-tails & Party Tips

If you need an excuse to gather friends and family together for a party let the 87th Annual Academy Awards be just that. It is a great occasion to get together to enjoy libations, food, and fun. Of course you can make the party as elaborate as you would like but in an effort to Keep It Simple Sweetie, I have a few ideas that you can throw together that will leave a lasting impact.

Making cocktails for guests is always fun but something that I usually get stuck in a rut with and make the same go to drinks. This year I wanted to switch it up a bit. With the help of my friends at Ciroc I have 2 drinks that are pretty easy to put together but will make you feel like you're celebrating with the Stars.

I think every occasion is a good time for Champagne, so any drink that includes it is a WIN in my book. To make the Escape, shake Ciroc Pineapple, Rasberry Liqueur, and Cranberry juice in a cup filled with ice. Strain into a Martini glass and top with Champagne. Garnish with an Orange Wedge & enjoy!

Ciroc is a good choice in Vodka because not only is it gluten free but it is made using less processed sugars from distilled grapes, meaning you headache the next day will be kept at bay. The Pom-Tini adds a boost of anti-oxidants with Pomegranate juice so you can feel better about indulging in this tasty beverage.

For people like me, that will not be enjoying alcoholic beverages, you do not have to miss out on the fun or rely on Martinelli's for a good time, make a festive Mock-tail. Your teetotaler guests will appreciate your extra effort.  To make this drink, muddle mint leaves and a handful of blueberries together in a glass, add in lime juice, and simple syrup and fill the cup with ice. Cover & shake it up (sing while doing it). Strain the contents into a Champagne glass and top with a splash of Club Soda. I recently came across the first Caffeinated Club, soda made with caffeine for that extra kick! It comes in a variety of flavors to mix into drinks or enjoy alone for a pick me up.  It adds flavor without any extra sugars or artificial ingredients. If you want a little boost of caffeine than this is something to try out.

Of course no party is complete without food. For The Oscars party I decided to keep the food simple. I picked up Movie Theater Candy from the Dollar Store and presented it on a silver platter. I added red vines and gummy bears into class bowls and  put together a popcorn bar complete with Kettle Corn, Buttered Popcorn and Caramel Popcorn.

To complete the look, my friend Alma at Pum Bum, a clothing boutique for women, that also carries maternity clothes, offered a suggestion on a great dress. Since My decor is Black, White, & Gold, I opted for a lacy black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the type of event you are hosting. Layer on chunky gold bracelets and earrings and you are ready to go.
