What better way to start your day than a cup of Joe. On St. Patrick's Day, what better way to start your day than with a little Irish Cream in your coffee. Since most of us cannot start the day with a stiff shot of Whiskey in our coffee, I have a Irish Coffee Creamer recipe that you can enjoy in the morning and then turn it into a Spirit come evening.
The coffee creamer is easy to throw together and uses ingredients that you most likely will have at home, except for maybe the Half & Half. Once it is all blended you can store in an air tight container for up to 3 months to enjoy a little bit of St. Patty's day through Spring. Make sure to shake it before each use as the Chocolate will settle.
For breakfast use the cream to make French Toast and don't forget the powdered sugar and green sprinkles. Why not use the cream to make a glaze for donuts or whipped cream for desserts? Have fun with it.
Come evening when you are ready for a drink, turn the cream into a Spirit. In a separate bowl or stand mixer which 2 eggs until foamy and stiff peaks form. Stir the eggs into your cream and add in up to 2 cups of Whiskey, or in my case, since I am not a Whiskey fan, Vodka.
Irish Cream Coffee Creamer:
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups of half and half
- 1 tsp. of vanilla
- 1 tsp. of instant coffee
- 1 tsp. of almond extract
- 1 TB of chocolate sauce and stir
Stir all ingredients together in a bowl. Use in Coffee or for French Toast. Store in an air tight container, in fridge, for up to 3 months.
Or to make it into a spirit, in a bowl whip up:
- Two eggs
- 2 cups of whiskey or vodka
