Fall Transition Cacoon Wrap & How to sport "the mule"

It's technically Fall so I really just want to wear cozy sweaters, scarfs and boots but it's still 85º here in Central California. So instead we are all still stuck in transition. A wardrobe purgatory of sorts. The outfit I picked to wear today, was the perfect solution for this weather time warp we are stuck in. It seems my friends on social media agreed. I receive several messages asking about the outfit I wore on Insta Stories today so I thought I would share my first "what I wore" blog post.

Let's start by talking about the cocoon cardigan wrap from Nordstrom. It is lightweight, breathable, and easy to move in. It has quickly become my favorite layering piece this season. I also bit the bullet and purchased a pair of mules. I have been hesitant, thinking I couldn't pull it off. Even though my husband says they are my elf slippers, I love them. As soon as I tried them on, I instantly felt and little more polished. AND let's  be honest, we don't dress to impress our hubby's (most of the time). They are very comfortable and elevate my casual clothes to the next level. I do like pairing them with skinny jeans to accentuate the streamlined lines. My friend at the store did suggest I scotch guard them since they are genuine suede. I need to get on that.

I like most of my outfits like I like my coffee, all black. My base pieces are a wardrobe staple for all season. My staple jeans are from Madewell, they are  known for their quality denim. When they first opened a store in town, I didn't think I could fork over the moola for a pair of jeans but I caved, purchased a pair of dark denim 9" rise "mom jeans," as I call them, and FELL IN LOVE. A few months later I purchased a pair in "isko stay black." They are the 1st pair of black denim that I own that hasn't faded. It is a small, denim miracle! I do try to air dry them as much as possible but they have seen the inside of my dryer a few times and still have not faded. They are worth every penny. The 9" rise is perfect to keep my post baby belly in check too.

For a pop of interest, I usually wear my skinny leopard belt. Mine is from Old Navy. It is the most worn $15 accessory I have purchased. I have had it for years and have just started to notice some wear. It might be time for a new one.
