It is kind of silly that this time of year we love to dye our food and beverages green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day but I have learned to embrace it and try to have fun with it. I do not frequent McDonald's much but everyone seems crazy about the Shamrock Shake so I thought it would be a fun recipe to recreate at home.
It is actually pretty simple to do. All you need is 4 ingredients- 1 cup of Milk, 2 cups Vanilla ice cream, 1/4 teaspoon of Mint Extract (not peppermint), & 8 drops of Food coloring. If you are against food coloring, I will be sharing a healthy mint chocolate milk shake recipe soon that you will want to try.
You can always mix in or sprinkle in a few mini chocolate chips for a little crunch. To make it an adult beverage make Irish Cream Whipped Cream to top it off. If you're making it for the family, make normal whipped cream.
